Iraq

After the fall of Saddam Hussein in April 2004, I went to Iraq to see the aftermath of the war. I made it to Baghdad and traveled from there to the south of the country as well as to the Kurdish area.

It was the time when the gigantic war machinery had come to a stand-still and it seemed as if the country took a deep breath. Looting took already place, but no organized insurgency had formed. People tried to sort out the nightmare they had just survived and struggled to form an idea how their future might look like.
