Zohreh Soleimani is a photojournalist resides and works in Tehran/Iran. She was born in 1969 in Tehran, Iran where she got her bachelor of art in photography from Azad University of Tehran. During her studies, she worked under supervision of Kaveh Golestan on her final project about Kazakh immigrants in north of Iran.
She has started her career as a reporter and photojournalist in 1993 in Donya-e-Tasvir magazine. She has worked with several Iranian magazines and newspapers like, Akhbar newspaper, Hamshahri newpaper, Zan newspaper (women newspaper), and Azad newspaper.
Since 2002, she has been a freelance photographer and journalist. Her work has been published in several well known international journals such as: Le figaro, SZ Magazine, Stern, Boston Globe, Telerama, Fortune, Web Magazine, L’humanite, Elle, Welt am Sonntag, Cicero, Jane Magazine, and Illustare. A book has been published from her and two other photographers’ project on Zoroastrians of Iran.
She also did photography and reports for UNICEF and UNHCR, namely:
- UNICEF Photo story: Afghan children in refugee camps, 2002
- UNICEF Photo story: The homeless children from the Qazvin’s earthquake in 2002.
- UNHCR photo story: Afghan refugees returning to their homeland from Iran, September 2004
